Here is the reproduction of the cricket or “cricket” used by the 101st Airborne on the night of June 5 to 6, 1944 on Sainte-Mère-Eglise and its surroundings. The click-clack of the cricket allowed American soldiers of the 101st Airborne to communicate with each other without being spotted by German troops. The locust, made famous by the film The Longest Day, has become one of the symbols of D-Day and the Normandy landings.
